Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

When should I register for a course?

Each class has a limited number of spaces available, so we recommend that you register early. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

How will I know if I am enrolled in a class?

If you enrolled and paid through our web-based catalog and enrollment system, you will receive an email confirmation of your enrollment status. If you enroll in person at CPI, Adult Education staff can let you know immediately if you have a space in class. If you enrolled through the webbased system but chose not to pay online, please check with Adult Education (814) 359-2793 regarding your enrollment status. Initial payment and/or payment arrangements must be made prior to the start of your class.

Do all courses run as scheduled?

No - while most of our courses run as scheduled, not all courses run each semester. This is primarily due to CPI not achieving a minimum number of enrolled students to run the class. CPI does not cash checks or charge student credit cards until after the scheduled course starts. If a class must be cancelled, we will contact all students at least 5 days prior to the start of the class.

What if my course is cancelled?

As mentioned above, it is possible that your scheduled class will be cancelled. Adult education staff will contact you if a class is cancelled and you will not be charged for the class.

What day and time does my class start?

Start dates and times are usually posted in the course catalog (online catalog, electronic pdf copy, and hard copy). If a start date and time is not posted, please contact Adult Education at (814) 359-2793 for information on start dates and times.

Do I still have class if the school is closed because of inclement weather?

On occasion we may be required to cancel classes due to inclement weather. If the school is closed for the day or closes early due to weather conditions, the Adult Education classes will be cancelled as well. If you are unsure whether classes will be running, please call the Adult Education office at (814) 359-2793 or (877) 968-7388.

School closings are typically posted on most local television and radio stations. Listings are also available on and 3WZs News Channel 4.

How do I receive a refund?

Please see CPIs refund policy posted on our website.

How do I reach someone who is in class at CPI?

In an emergency situation, you can call (814) 359-2793 and follow the directions for reaching a staff person in the building (dial 3 0 0).

Who should I contact if I have more questions?

Please contact June Irwin, Adult Education Coordinator at (814) 359-2793 x 207 or Todd Taylor, Director of Adult and Post-Secondary Education at (814) 359-2793 x 217. The Adult Education office hours are M - F, 8:00AM - 4:00PM.
