CPI Students to Participate in National Wreaths Across America Day

Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology students in groups such as FCCLA, National Technical Honor Society and SkillsUSA will be participating in a national service project on Dec. 16.

They will be bused to the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. to partake in National Wreaths Across America Day – a campaign to put wreaths on the graves of fallen service members.

Culinary Arts instructor and adviser Tim Beckenbaugh said students will be assigned to an area of the cemetery to lay the wreaths. Student will also have the chance to visit the National Mall, and eat dinner at Smokehouse Live Restaurant in Leesburg, Va. before heading back to central Pennsylvania.

“We think this is a good opportunity to go and do something good,” Beckenbaugh said.

The goal of the organizations is also to eventually adopt a local cemetery.
